This course has been designed for learners who wish to go on to Higher Education courses or employment, where knowledge of computer science would be beneficial.
You will require a grade 6 or higher in maths, in addition to the general entry requirements.
This unit will introduce the fundamentals of programming, data structures, data representation, computer systems, computer organisation and architecture, communication and networking. You will also learn how to apply a systematic approach to problem solving, along with the theory of computation and the consequences of the uses of computing.
Continuing on from Unit 1, in this unit you will be introduced to the fundamentals of algorithms, functional programming, databases and big data. You will also work on your own practical project, which will contribute 20% towards your overall A level marks.

You are provided with textbooks. However, you are required to provide all other materials.
